When a local producer packs their product – whether it’s a jar of homemade honey, a bottle of delicious syrup, or a box of handmade pasta – the question arises: how does this story reach the customer? This is where GLS Slovenia steps in.

The company is not just another delivery provider. Their guiding principle is simple: from person to person. With its extensive network – 1 central sorting hub, 20 depots, more than 600 vehicles, over 640 Parcel Lockers, and 650 Parcel Shops – GLS ensures that local stories reach the hands of those who value them, quickly and securely, every day.

For small food producers without their own logistics, this network acts as an extended arm of their farm. Parcel Lockers are especially important: they allow customers to collect their package whenever it suits them – often already the same day. This means more freshness, more satisfied customers, and greater trust in local products.

But GLS provides more than just fast delivery – it also ensures flexibility. Customers are notified about their package, can adjust the delivery, and have multiple payment options – cash, card, even cryptocurrency, and now also Flik at the Parcel Locker. For producers, this means less administration and greater transparency, as payments are transferred quickly and securely to their account.

Sustainability is also a key part of the GLS story. The company invests in vehicle electrification, installs solar panels on Parcel Lockers and hubs, and develops paperless processes. This way, producers gain more than just a logistics service – they gain a partner who cares about the future of their business and our planet.

So, when customers open a package, it’s not just a product inside. It’s the entire journey: from a local farm, through the carefully organised GLS network, to their door or Parcel Locker – fast, safe, transparent, and sustainable.

SUCCESS FACTORS

Extensive network: GLS has built one of the strongest delivery networks in Slovenia. With a central hub in Ljubljana, 21 depots, more than 600 vehicles, over 640 Parcel Lockers, and 650 Parcel Shops, they are close to both cities and rural areas. This means that a local producer from a village in Prekmurje can send a package just as quickly as a larger company from Ljubljana – and the customer can receive it as early as the next day.

Digitalisation: GLS is not only about physical logistics but also about digital solutions. Ordering and tracking platforms ensure that both producers and customers always know where the package is. Recipient notifications via email and the option to adjust delivery add an extra layer of trust and convenience.

Payment flexibility: Cash on delivery is no longer limited to just cash – today, customers can also pay by card. GLS is one of the few providers to introduce cryptocurrency payments and the first in its industry to offer cardless payment at Parcel Lockers via Flik. For producers, this means access to a wider circle of customers and safe, fast transfers to their accounts.

Sustainability focus: Electric vehicles, solar power plants on hubs and Parcel Lockers, and paperless operations are concrete steps the company takes to reduce its environmental footprint – while also helping producers deliver their products in an eco-friendly way.

Accessibility for local producers: Special benefits and flexible contracts are designed with small producers in mind. Integration into online sales is straightforward, and the Parcel Locker network ensures that products reach customers wherever it is most convenient for them. In this way, GLS helps make local offerings as accessible as global ones.

High quality of service: As the largest B2C provider in Slovenia, GLS builds on trust, speed, and transparency. This means that when a local producer sends a package, they can count on it being delivered on time and in perfect condition – which is especially crucial for sensitive products such as food.
