The Open ENLoCC member institutions each hold a huge amount of regional logistics knowledge. Furthermore, typically each is a specialist in one or more topics, with a reputation across Europe. Therefore, the network as a whole probably is one of the most in-depth sources of logistics knowledge across Europe.
Nowadays, the detailed knowledge is more and more available on the internet. Therefore, the focus of Open ENLoCC is to train its members in accessing the available knowledge of the other partners. It can then be transferred not only to logistics companies, but also to administration and politics. In fact, this has become a field of action for a number of network members, and the process is actively supported by the secretariat.
The Open ENLoCC members offer logistics training and education or in any case have close ties to the relevant logistics training and education institutions in their area. In the past, severla members have cooperated in the establishment of training courses under the “LOGtraining” label. More such cooperations are envisaged.
The main European transport corridors are an important issue in European as well as in regional politics. For several such corridors, Open ENLoCC members cooperate on exchanging regional knowledge regarding these corridors, with an emphasis on freight transport. This has not only increased their knowledge, but also helped to establish formalized support projects for the improvement of these axes.
A direct result of Open ENLoCC cooperation was the CASTLE project, within which a larger number of Open ENLoCC members exchange best practices for regional logistics policies.
At the moment, most network members are also engaged in “Mark UP”, a proposal to the European FP7 programme to evaluate transport research projects across Europe.
There also is an ongoing cooperation with Campania Region on logistics topics.
The yearly “General Assembly” is the place to start and discuss new cooperation. The network always welcomes any such initiative.
